I have been in Wisconsin for almost twenty-four hours, and I am completely charmed. I got off the plane and within half an hour I saw an airport sheriff helping a passenger stack her carryon on top of her suitcase so she could roll them both with one hand. I think you'll all agree that by us, uniformed law enforcement doesn't do that. Then the car-rental people were the nicest I have ever met, and the drive up to Green Bay was lovely -- it was interstate the whole way, and I was nevertheless captivated the whole way. I was thinking you were all going to have to talk me out of moving up here, because it hit me really hard in a Great-Lakes-midwest way that Minneapolis (and thus Rice Lake) didn't really, being more prairie-midwest-like. But then I started thinking, I don't know if I'd like living in a place I found utterly charming. It would probably drive me bananas.
In any event, I am fractionally less charmed by my hotel in Green Bay, where the wireless works in the lobby and breakfast room, but not in my room. Sigh. Also, I had some (predictable) trouble with the thermostat, but I've got it now. :-)
First draw was uneventful. 7th seed had the bye; 1 defeated 6 and 2 defeated 5. (The second on that team reminds me overwhelmingly of
bayleaf; voice and gestures v. similar.) The 3-4 game was a total blowout in which the 4th seed stole eight points in five ends and they didn't go back out after halftime. Local club is right on top of logistical details. So far so good, except how I'm crazy dehydrated.
Back up to the club in an hour. Onward.
