in which fox rejoins the living

Yesterday was plain awful I was full of head cold. The lovely sanj brought me (some chocolate and) a quart of milk, since I'd been going through what milk I had at a faster-than-usual rate, what with all the tea I've been drinking. I told samtheeagle the difference between troublesome allergy symptoms and head-cold symptoms is the difference between itching and pressure in the ears. I took a couple of cold remedies along with my rest and soup and tea, and toward evening I was feeling quite a lot better.

This morning, it is raining, and nevertheless my nose and ears are itching something fierce. Seriously, this kind of thing ought not to be allowed. I am very displeased. Can I just get the histamine receptors removed? I don't really need them, do I? (I've suggested before that I might have my sinuses removed, but I do need those, I admit.)

Anyway. More hot tea, class this morning, work for a bit, dentist this afternoon. We march along. Also, bethbethbeth has set me up -- in the good way! -- and I will shortly be creating a Dreamwidtch account. Stand by for further information on that front.

Oh! But here's how my mind works. Background: I got my original LJ invite code (back when LJ had invite codes [whacks whippersnappers with cane]) from darthhellokitty, and as the username "fox" was already taken, went ahead and shoved a "darth" on there -- I had to do something to make the handle unique, and that showed the descent-or-affiliation, you know, it made sense at the time. This is also why darthrami and darththalia have "darth" prefixes, by the way. SO - over at DW, "fox" is still available, but I'm kind of on the fence about whether or not I should be "foxfoxfox", you know, for the same sort of reason. :-P

fun with the importer.

So I tick the boxes for "entries" and "comments", and give it my LJ name and password, and click "import", and it un-ticks the boxes I had ticked and ticks all the rest, but gives me a status update on what I asked for, and this invariably results in "Aborted" or "Failed". Usually never even initialized, actually. Messages in the inbox say invalid password, which is silly. So I'm thinking maybe there needs to be something here for it to import to? Hence this post.

1. I am fox over at Dreamwidth. Importing and other housekeeping tasks are running onto some technical difficulties, but there I am, anyway. Find me!

2. My old external HD, which freaked out some months ago and eventually insisted, whenever I plugged it in, that it was damaged and I was only allowed to access a limited amount of what was on it, has been resting in a drawer in my coffee table for several weeks and is now -- although who knows for how long, maybe just today -- showing me all the Who I so laboriously acquired last year! So I'm importing the hell out of it. This didn't work before when I tried to do it all at once, so I'm doing it one season at a time. Each one takes about five minutes, and I've almost finished the Fifth Doctor (and I've got most of Ten already), so I'm well more than halfway done. Hurrah!

3. I was tired of the couch, so I moved to the armchair. Like I've been saying: it's good to have a change of scenery.
