I tell you what - I really thought old Ted would be forced by remorseless fate to hang in there and endure the deaths of Jean and one or two more of the nieces and nephews. I'm a little bit relieved for them all that he's at peace finally; the man had been doing penance for his own iniquities for forty years, and for his father's all his life.

But now farewell. I am going a long way
With these thou seëst - if indeed I go
(For all my mind is clouded with a doubt) -
To the island-valley of Avilion;
Where falls not hail, or rain, or any snow,
Nor ever wind blows loudly; but it lies
Deep-meadowed, happy, fair with orchard lawns
And bowery hollows crowned with summer sea,
Where I will heal me of my grievous wound.

Now let's get some health care legislation, goddammit.

Note to self: if you don't do laundry tonight, you will not be able to go to work tomorrow. JUST DO IT already.

I did another half-repeat of the cables tonight - I'm on two and a half out of four, and I was starting to think seriously about stopping at three because I don't want it to be way not-square, but I wasn't wrong about how much the cables pull in; it spreads out nicely to the width of my sofa cushion and still looks good, and for a bonus, the sofa cushion is square!, and my extremely scientific hand-breadth-against-the-knitting measurements suggest to me that four repeats will be almost exactly the length of the sofa cushion, so in short, win!

Me being me, I'm thinking ahead to how I'm going to accomplish the next two stages of the project, but no, no, no, must actually finish another repeat and a half first.
