So I quit taking sudafed last week, right, the advice nurse having reminded me that I have Flonase for the breathing-clearly thing, in the hope that not taking it would help me sleep through the night, because this insomnia thing is new to me and I don't like it one bit. It was an improvement, but not all the way back to normal, but I reasoned it would take a little time to get my groove back, you know, most things aren't like flipping a switch. And then I went away for a long weekend and there were two nights in my friend's guest room and two nights in a B&B, where it's reasonable to expect a person won't sleep as well as she does at home.
I have just realized that along with sleeping better the whole time I was on vacation, I had hardly any coffee and even less soda the whole time I was gone. And now I'm back home and still not taking sudafed, but I woke up last night at 2am almost just like I'd been doing - I didn't lie awake for long, but it was disruptive nonetheless, and I'm annoyed by it on top of being tired, plus there's the matter of the puffy eyes and bad skin all this is causing, and I'm annoyed by that too.
Sigh. So much as I did when I suspected my stomach issues were from lactose intolerance, I will now conduct an extremely scientific study in which I switch all caffeinated beverages to uncaffeinated ones in my normal daily life and routine and sleeping in my own bed and so on. If that solves the problem I'll be annoyed, but at least it will save me escalating the matter to the consulting-a-professional stage.
