tech "support" [tears hair]

You mean I could look in the Start menu to see if the software was there? Why didn't I think of that? OH WAIT.
Turns out the problem was that the scanner-thing that enables IT to see which computer has which software only shows one computer in this room with two computers in it. So he was actually looking at my office-mate's computer. Aha. But, I mean, dude, maybe we haven't met, but give me a little more credit than "Is unit turned on", would you, please.
me: [submits IT ticket] Hi guys - this is to request Software I Need please. Also, while I've got you on the line, Other Software takes a hundred years to open over here; should it run faster, or should I just deal?...
IT: Hi. You should be getting a new PC shortly. I'll put you to the top of the list for Monday, and then you shouldn't have any speed issues.
IT: Computer replaced on 9-28-09. [ticket closed]
me: [noting that Software I Need is still absent and Other Software is opening a little faster but not anything I wouldn't call "slowly"] Thanks for that - but the main point of the ticket was a request for Software I Need, please, so can it be reopened for that purpose. :-) Thanks.
IT: Hi - according to my scan of your PC, Software You Need is on there. Please let me know if it is not showing up in the Start menu.

me: Nope, not on the Start menu, which is why I reactivated the ticket. :-)Smiley added in the hope that IT would not understand me to be saying "which is why I reactivated the ticket, asshole."
