maybe i'll remember later?

I had thoughts on my way home, real ones, but by now all I can remember is that I had them - not one inkling of what they were. Alas.

The leasing office had people in to replace our intercoms today - so now not only are the buttons outside arranged in numerical order, but I've got a fancy new speaker thingie up here in the apartment as well, with a "talk" button and a key button and an alarm button and ... another button that I don't know what it does. And no manual. [eta: I found the specs online - thanks, Uncle Google - and it seems the alarm button and the mystery button are both options, so in my case they're probably not connected to anything.] And the new speaker thingie is smaller than the old phone thingie was, so there are a couple of bare patches in the paint above and below it. Time to get out the brush this weekend, I suppose. That's good as I can also patch up a spot where I made a bad mistake in picture-hanging one time.

-- but listen. It looks like tapered-leg jeans are back. Am I wrong about this? I would love to be wrong.

On a related note, leggings are not trousers. It's probably too late to nip this in the bud, but god, can we skip nipping-in-the-bud and just MAKE IT STOP?

When you've got two shades of yellow on your walls, and a bare patch to cover around the new intercom, and you very carefully look at the labels on the paint cans and the chips you've still got with notes on them, so you can be sure to pick the right one, it's a good idea to make sure you're right about which one that is. (For the record: the bare patch gets the pale yellow. It's only the picture-hanging-mistake spot that gets [a touch of spackle and] the bright yellow. But it's okay. The pale yellow is crazy thick and will cover the errant bright yellow quite nicely.)
