fox: remus lupin knows from chronic pain (love - brain (by Sam))
1. Worked from home today, on account of yesterday was a bad TMJ day and this morning was worse the minute I woke up. I did get a lot of work done, and I was glad to be able to do it amidst strapping microwaved washcloths to my face, keeping the nighttime bite guard in for most of the day, and consuming pain relievers of the muscle-relaxant-seriously-don't-drive variety. Tomorrow I'll have to remember to bring the bite guard with me to work. Possibly the washcloth as well. Not the muscle relaxants, though, because driving.

2. Upstairs neighbors moved away several weeks ago. Something like three and a half, maybe four weeks ago, the men came and put plastic down in the hallways and taped down the edges and I said oh, painting today?, and they said yes, but not in the hallway - upstairs, and that was when I knew for sure. That plastic was down for two weeks, toward the end of which it was pretty raggedy and a moderate-to-severe trip hazard, and I was glad when they took it up and vacuumed and I assumed - foolishly, as it turned out - that upstairs was now Made Ready and whatever new neighbors I was going to get would arrive whenever. Yeah, no. A week later, down went more plastic, and they began doing more and noisier work up there, and they began at 8am every day!, which is before I leave for work, and it was, as the fellow said, damaging my calm. I asked one of the guys how long it takes to make an apartment (two bedrooms! only 750 square feet!) ready, and he said a couple of weeks, and I said it's been three and a half weeks!, and he kind of had no response - which was fair, I mean, he was the guy putting the plastic on the carpet, doing as he was told, didn't speak a ton of English, it wasn't right to blame him. I sent two e-mails to the rental office saying, essentially, 'omg how long is this going to be', and when I got no response, I called - and had to call twice, but I finally got them to call me back, and what they said was: you're absolutely right, they should confine their work to business hours, so if they're getting started before 9 or working after about 5:30 we want to know about it; and what they're supposed to do with the plastic is put it down when they're moving their messy equipment in and out, but not leave it on the stairs even during the day, much less 24/7, so we've had a word with them about that. And I said ack, I didn't want to get anybody in trouble!, just an ETA on finishing the job, because yikes; and they said no, we've had some issues with those contractors before, obviously we just need to be more diligent about checking up on them; and it seems the first couple of weeks they got started and then they didn't have some equipment they needed, so they went and did something else and now they're back, but it should be done some time this week or early next week; and if you have any more issues, let us know. So, yay. And today when I was working at home, they didn't in fact get going until about 9:30! ... And then didn't leave until 8pm. So I e-mailed the office and said 'fyi, this doesn't really seem like a solution.'

3. [personal profile] ellen_fremedon brought me soda! So I didn't have to leave the house! [genuflects]

4. Sheep and Wool Festival on Saturday! I am happily anticipating this. Need to get some cash tomorrow.

5. More drugs before bed, methinks.
