good news/bad news
May. 11th, 2010 05:18 pmThe good news: they did not subject me to root canal.
The bad news: not yet, that is. They found cracks in two (!) teeth, and at least one of them was awfully close to the nerve, so they gave me a temporary partial and I'm to let them know how things are going tomorrow or Thursday when the leftover pain from all today's abuse has gone. At that point they will either send in the impressions for a couple of onlays, or have me back in for the big drill.
More bad news: the novocaine is wearing off, so today's abuse is now hurting like hell. It was a bunch of novocaine and a non-zero amount of drilling and, most crucially, a laser thing to make my gums recede for some purpose I'm not clear on - they told me that would hurt when the novocaine wore off, and boy howdy, it does. I've had four advil and am now holding an ice pack to my jaw and none of it is really helping.
