the road to recovery
Jun. 23rd, 2010 08:02 pmSo Monday afternoon I had, as I said, woot canaw part deux. And it was much, much better than before. Monday night I still didn't sleep that well, but that's not a huge surprise, what with the bruising and the swollen gums and other trauma. No problem.
Tuesday, I went through the day as normal, but when I tried to put in the bite guard, I could feel that the temporary crown still doesn't really fit in it, and after only a few minutes it makes that corner of my jaw really ache unless I like hold the thing against the teeth on the left with my tongue, which is no way to live, because then I couldn't speak and my tongue would ache, and in any case I can't do that while I'm sleeping, which is really when this needs to be fixed. So I called and made an arrangement to go in Wednesday afternoon and have them reshape things a little so they fit together better.
Tuesday night I went to sleep with the old bite guard, top teeth only, and woke up at 2:30 goddammit and took four ibuprofen and couldn't get back to sleep until close to 4am. It was the worst night I've had in a while, and I e-mailed in to say I had this dentist's appointment but I'd like to work from home for the remainder of the day, and how much I'm looking forward to the time when I can confidently expect to have two nights in a row where I can sleep more than about two and a half hours before waking up in pain. (I never had pain that woke me up before. Kept me from falling asleep, yes, but with the kidney infection and the badly sprained ankle once I was asleep I stayed that way until I woke up because it was morning.)
... and then I took more ibuprofen and zonked out on the couch and went to the dentist and came home and zonked so I have recorded the day as a sick day, because the amount of work I got done at home was, today, nil. Sigh.
