I may need someone to explain to me in clear, solid, incontrovertible terms why I do not require these shoes. (That I deserve them is, of course, absolutely not a matter for debate.)

Fair warning: I am going to argue with you.

I suspect that by lunch time, when I will have had a chance to balance my checkbook and do a little math, it will be a lost cause.
