Last weekend we picked out tiles for the new bathrooms (of which there are 1.5 - the master bath upstairs and a powder room down; we're not changing the hall bath upstairs or the inexplicable bathroom in the basement). We both got pretty fried pretty quickly, and it is my opinion that this is because the tile place had, compared to the cabinet place and the plumbing fixture place, way more choices that were way more similar than they had any reason to be. We did ultimately choose some tiles, but it shouldn't have been that hard.

In fact this clip from Frasier (apparently s09e07) pretty much sums up my feelings about trying to pick out tiles.

Niles: What color is the new carpet?
Frasier: I'm going up a shade to Harvest Wheat.
Niles: I thought the next shade up was Buff?
Frasier: It used to be, but they've discovered a whole new color in between.
Niles: So now it's Tofu, Putty, Oatmeal ...
Both: ... Almond, Harvest Wheat ...
Frasier: ... and Buff.
Niles: That's going to be hard to get used to.
