I did go back to bed, if anyone was worried, and slept for another two and a half hours. Woke up much less headachey, and impulsively decided that what was making my pillows smoosh down and not fluff back up again might be the allergen-filtering pillow-subcases my allergist encouraged me to put on almost a year ago. Yes, I've been frustrated by this for almost a year, but it was only this morning that it occurred to me that in fact I may not need new pillows at all. Took them out of the allergy bags and sure enough, they bounced back much better. I think I will not put them back on. The dust mites won't kill me, but the neck cramps might.

Anyway. Then mallrat fun time with [livejournal.com profile] sanj and [livejournal.com profile] ellen_fremedon, in which I found what seriously may be the best dress ever, and didn't buy it. Sigh. When I have an excuse or when it goes on sale (or, ideally, both!), I will buy it and it will be mine. Someday! And then we watched the Stratford Pirates, in which I got goosebumps a full two minutes before "Hail, Poetry" just knowing it was coming up, and the Pirate King was the customary level of awesome (it's the production I grew up with, so, you know, awesome, but it's fun watching other people see it for the first time), and the wedding-cake thing at the end of Act I was no less impressive, and [livejournal.com profile] sanj said "Plus I'm sure the rest of the sisters are thinking if they can get Mabel married off, everyone else can drop down a fifth, so maybe that's their investment in it." Hee!

Electric kettle is vinegar-boiled and working nicely. Tea is almost drunk. Off to bed on pillows that won't hurt me. Yay weekend.

  • Sectionals tonight (ugh), in which Assistant (associate?) Director the Impossible to Please kept saying he was impressed and encouraged by our command of the (very difficul) music. Granted he was saying things like "you're definitely in the same ballpark as the right notes", but honestly, he meant it (and said it) in a good way -- he went on to say "it's just that you're not confident you've got the pitches right, and I can hear that; but you do." He repeatedly said that at this stage he worried we wouldn't have it even to the extent we do.
  • There were times most of the section was wrong, and I know I wasn't the only one singing (for example) the correct E natural while everyone else was singing the more logical E flat, but I was sure one of a very few. I'm always a little chuffed when I'm right.
  • A girl in my section, who often brings her knitting to show me and ask questions, and whom I'd taught some things about knitting socks, was so pleased with what I'd taught her and what she'd learned that she brought me a 450-yard skein of alpaca! So now I have more sock yarn! I'll have to be sure to wear the socks I make from it to rehearsal some time.
  • GOT A PARKING SPACE when I got home. I don't know if I've made it clear how fabulous (and unusual) it is to get a space when I get home after about 9:30pm.
  • Bourbon.
