I saw where John Scalzi had a Sanford LOLcat and noted at the end of his entry that there is Bad Behavior, defined here as marital infidelity, on both sides of the political aisle. Which is true, but what I've been thinking since yesterday is that the specific counterexamples he invoked -- Elliot Spitzer and John Edwards -- did the rightest thing they could in the circumstances, which was resign (in the first case) and go to ground (in both), rather than apologize publicly and give up a leadership post but otherwise go on about their elected business (Larry Craig, David Vitter, John Ensign, Mark Sanford). Badly done, Scalzi. But whatever. :-P
