I've done a number of things this morning that I had been putting off for reasons mainly having to do with getting distracted, rather than avoiding them. I've made my next appointment with the new allergist, e-mailed my voice teacher about getting back in the singing groove, booked my hotel room at Cape Cod, and updated my calendar through the spring with not just my flight information (which always goes in there) but when I've got which meetings, when I've got rehearsals, and when I've got the early vs. late draw at curling, so I can stop asking people (mainly at the doctor's office) if I can call them to schedule $whatever when I'm back at my desk with my calendar in front of me. Mean to say, what's the point of carrying a weekly diary if you don't put stuff in it and have it there to refer to? I was very good about that at Oxford and fell out of the habit when I came home, so now here I go back into it.

So what remains on my agenda for today - besides struggling still more with my adjectives which may or may not agree with nouns in gender, number and case - is to do more of this IRB training (I got 3/3 in the first module yesterday and then 6/10 in the second, wtf, so I logged out because I was obviously not paying sufficient attention to even get the right answers, much less retain any of the information), prepare my team meeting script and other paperwork for Cape Cod, and write a general essay and a personal statement for this MLS program I'm going ahead and applying to. All three of these? are things I will not enjoy. We'll see if I've finished even one of them by quitting time today.

fox: curling: holding the broom for a hit. (vice)
So yesterday I did something wonky to my right leg while I was curling. One of the times I was coming out of the hack, I believe, because when I tried to stretch that leg sideways it didn't help at all, and only doing the curling stretch with that leg back as if it were trailing helped at all. Pulled a muscle, I thought. I took three Advil after the game and put some heat on it when I got home.

Today it still felt a little twinge-y during the day, and then I got to curling and oh my god. It hurt like hell. I asked my team to let me switch to lead rocks, because it's easier to do whatever I was doing to protect my leg (not dropping as hard as I usually do) when I'm just trying to throw guards.

It hurts so much. Ow, ow, ow. I took four Advil in the second end and have just had ice on it for about ten minutes when I got home. Am going to change into my jammies and put the ice back on for a few minutes. Ice is better than heat, right?, because it will make the swelling go down?
