through avoidance
Jan. 20th, 2010 10:07 amI've done a number of things this morning that I had been putting off for reasons mainly having to do with getting distracted, rather than avoiding them. I've made my next appointment with the new allergist, e-mailed my voice teacher about getting back in the singing groove, booked my hotel room at Cape Cod, and updated my calendar through the spring with not just my flight information (which always goes in there) but when I've got which meetings, when I've got rehearsals, and when I've got the early vs. late draw at curling, so I can stop asking people (mainly at the doctor's office) if I can call them to schedule $whatever when I'm back at my desk with my calendar in front of me. Mean to say, what's the point of carrying a weekly diary if you don't put stuff in it and have it there to refer to? I was very good about that at Oxford and fell out of the habit when I came home, so now here I go back into it.
So what remains on my agenda for today - besides struggling still more with my adjectives which may or may not agree with nouns in gender, number and case - is to do more of this IRB training (I got 3/3 in the first module yesterday and then 6/10 in the second, wtf, so I logged out because I was obviously not paying sufficient attention to even get the right answers, much less retain any of the information), prepare my team meeting script and other paperwork for Cape Cod, and write a general essay and a personal statement for this MLS program I'm going ahead and applying to. All three of these? are things I will not enjoy. We'll see if I've finished even one of them by quitting time today.
