fox: curling stones: i love this game (curling)
short version:

didn't feel well. went to curling; eventually felt better. won twice. sad to be leaving. am an idiot and i don't know why i keep on with this idiocy when i wouldn't allow any friend who approached me for advice to do anything of the kind. stupid, stupid, stupid, lame-ass cowardly idiot.

the semifinal game we didn't have to play this morning was evidently a total shocker. it was between two teams i was quite surprised to see in the second event that late, one because i wouldn't have expected them to lose early (or even at all) and the other because i'd have expected them to lose more often. i got there in time to see the last shot that gave the second team the win.

so we faced them at noon. there was no coin toss; they'd played already that morning, so they were given the last-rock advantage to begin the game with. we stole two in the first; stole one in the second; stole one in the third; stole two in the fourth. they took one in the fifth and stole one in the sixth, but then we took three in the seventh and they conceded the game.

overall, i was very pleased with how i played this weekend (delighted, if you don't count friday evening), and even more pleased to have a wee curling stone trophy for my effort at my last bonspiel. plus, i wasn't as depressed as i'd thought i would be, when it was over.

also: i'm trying very hard to be less stupid, follow more of my own advice, etc. but i also try, routinely, i realize, not to be too optimistic. the less optimistic you are, the less often (and bitterly) you can be disappointed.
