Sunday evening when it was raining like crazy, I saw a mouse in my kitchen. I thought when I nabbed last year's mouse I'd defeated the little bastards for keeps, but this one ran away from the front corner and dodged under the oven, and half an hour later I saw him out here in the living room, running under the TV stand and skittering into the front closet. I put in the work order, but of course they haven't come until today, and the man has put down a couple of glue traps* and left me a couple more (for the corners of my room, at some point when I get back to them), and has even moved the appliances in the kitchen to try and see where the little bastards are getting in -- and damn if there wasn't a dead mouse stuck to a glue trap waaay in the back behind the oven.

Could be that one was the one from the other night. In which event we still don't know where they're getting in, I guess. But in any case, I'm still winning.

*I don't like them either, but I don't have a lot of options, do I.

I find that the Harris Teeter store-brand pasta is every bit as good as the blue-box Barilla kind, and about half the cost, so yay. (You wouldn't think there'd be much difference in dried pastas, would you? At least I wouldn't. But there is. So I'm glad to find a less-expensive substitute for a kind I like a lot.)

I made [personal profile] sanj's tuna-mac salad thing tonight, with rotini (not macaroni) and frozen (not canned) peas and white (not light) tuna. Probably could use more mayo-with-stuff-in-it next time, but I'm glad to add easy things to my repertoire, in any event. That's lunch for the rest of the week.

I've got 36 rows of lime-green reversible cables. (24-stitch cables, and I don't mind telling you, that's not easy.) I'm probably going to have to end up with 120 rows at the very least. Will be doing 2x2 rib for the foreseeable future.

The other thing is blocking on the card table. Stay tuned. :-)

Stephen Fry has turned up on Bones this evening and I quite like him here as it turns out. (I have a lower Stephen Fry threshold than some other people, I find. Or a shorter Stephen Fry period. C'est la vie.)
